On the 24th of June, I’ve decided to test my relationship with gravity (but more importantly my nerves!!) by abseiling off Croke Park for an incredible cause. I’m taking on this challenge to raise money for Make-A-Wish Ireland, a brilliant charity who turns the impossible into reality for children fighting critical illnesses and those living with life‑threatening medical conditions.

Every year, over 650 children in Ireland are diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. These diagnoses affect not just the children, but entire families - disrupting school, friendships and daily life. This is where Make-a-Wish Ireland come in, working with children and their families to grant unique, life-changing wishes. These wishes provide a powerful sense of relief and emotional healing, helping families reconnect, celebrate life and build cherished memories during incredibly difficult times.

Since 1992, Make-A-Wish Ireland has granted wishes for more than 3,600 brave children across Ireland, including 229 wishes granted in 2025 alone. A wish granted is true magic for the child, providing respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment. Make-A-Wish Ireland does not receive any government funding and relies overwhelmingly on the kindness of the Irish public to continue granting wishes.

These wishes are far more than just nice experiences. They give children something to look forward to during incredibly tough times, helping to lift spirits, boost confidence and create joyful memories for their whole family. By supporting my abseil, you’re helping Make-A-Wish Ireland continue to turn difficult journeys into moments of magic - and that makes every metre down Croke Park absolutely worth it.

Every euro donated will help make a difference to these children's lives, so please give what you can!
Thank you so much for your support 💛 Niamh O'Doherty
